Harry Glen has only been with CherryFive a few months and already he has brought us an incredible amount of publicity.

On Friday 22nd February his pro bono website for the Govan Law Centre won the coveted title of “Lightershade Legal Website of the Year”. Harry took on the project to help out the centre, which also won an award for their work to prevent homelessness.

“They are a much respected firm who do a lot for the local community, I’m just glad I could help out. The award is completely unexpected but a great boost for me. I’m really happy.”

One of the main judging criteria for the award was accessibility, ease of use and effective navigation. As a designer and developer, Harry has optimised website usability for several years, and brings this expertise to the CherryFive design team.

“Usability covers a multitude of considerations,” he told me, “from making the website accessible to those with disabilities, to giving it the best chance of being found by search engines.”

Other criteria considered in the award included:

  • Dynamic and relevant content
  • Good design including effective navigation, ease of use and creativity
  • Good technical function including accessibility and quality of content
  • Ability to retrieve information and/or carry out transactions quickly and efficiently
  • Clear, consistent and effective delivery of the key messages
  • Evidence of new business growth generated through the website

CherryFive are pleased to have Harry on the team and will make sure he celebrates his latest award in style.
